He instilled in them - and so many others - something far greater than musicianship: he taught them how to strive, how to persevere, and how to expect more of themselves - all hallmarks of Jim Ferris, and of Aquinas. Kevin and Lewis are living proof of that legacy. A Reunion That Says Something Bigger Their meeting in Washington wasn’t merely coincidence, but rather a testament to personal achievement and a reminder of the enduring threads that tie Aquinas alumni together - threads woven by mentors the likes of Jim Ferris, who shaped not only the musicians in our nation, but the leaders. Two former bandmates. Two distinguished military careers. One mentor whose lessons carried them farther than they could have ever imagined. In retrospection, we see thy intention; triumphant over all. Mr. Ferris passed away in January 2013, but his influence continues to be felt in the lives and accomplishments of the students he taught.
