Alumni Notes Aquinas Alumni from multiple class years gathered at Hooligans in Greece on Christmas Eve to celebrate together and raise a toast to the new year, marking the 46th year of this beloved tradition. Dick Kane ’49 was featured in an art show at Barnes & Noble in Pittsford, sharing his impressionist landscape paintings with the community. Dominic Piazza ’52 was among St. John Fisher University’s 2025 Dean’s Medal Honorees, chosen for career accomplishments, personal achievements, and a commitment to their alma mater and the communities in which they live and work. John Heveron, Jr. ’65 was selected by the Rochester Business Journal as a 2025 Icon Honors recipient. Jim Bossert‘69 started a new position at Oncor Electric Delivery as a Continuous Improvement Lead. He will be leading and coaching continuous improvement projects throughout the north Texas region. Dan Kinney ’69 shared that at their 50-year reunion in 2019, the Color Guard decided to hold reunions every two years. Gatherings took place in 2021 and 2023 in Venice, Florida, and most recently in June 2025 in Rochester. The weekend began with a Friday evening gathering at Tom Cottrone’s ’69 home, followed by dinner Saturday at Nick Nucci, Jr.’s ’69 restaurant in Webster. Their next reunion is tentatively planned for Las Vegas in May 2027. Robert Ebert, Jr. ’70 and Thomas Ebert ’78 are investors in Premier Productions, which launched a nine-city tour of Meredith Willson’s Christmas classic, Miracle on 34th Street. Following several preview performances during Tech Week at Roberts Wesleyan University’s Cultural Life Center, the show went on tour with stops at the Schubert Theatre in New Haven, CT; The Tilles Center on Long Island; the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, ME; the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem, PA; the Fox Theatre in Detroit, MI; The Playhouse on Rodney Square in Wilmington, DE; the Capital One Hall in Tysons, VA; and the Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater in Syracuse, NY. Bill Shaheen ’72 celebrated the 50th year in business of his company, Whitney & Company. He was also named to the Rochester Business Journal’s Power List for Banking and Finance. Tom Elliott, Jr. ’73 paid a visit to one of his former Aquinas teachers, Father Carl Belisch, CSB while in Houston, TX. The Class of 1980 gathered this past fall to celebrate their 45th reunion with a full weekend of fun and reconnection. Led by Joe O’Donnell, Jr. ’80, the festivities kicked o with a golf outing at Lakeshore Country Club, followed by a lively happy hour at Silk O’Loughlin’s. The celebration continued the next evening with a dinner at the Port of Rochester. Both events drew about 50 classmates, making for a memorable milestone weekend. David Riedman ’82, President & CEO, Riedman, was inducted into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame 2025. Pete Rogers ’84 and Jeff Camelio ’95 were equipment managers for Team USA at the IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) World Championships, co-hosted by Denmark and Sweden. Team USA defeated Switzerland in the gold medal game with a score of 1-0 in overtime. Christine (Lopuchowycz) Grout ’88 (middle), Sandra Harlow ’90 (left), and Christina Mancini ’90 (right), connected at the NIO Summit Fundraising Conference for Growth-Driven Nonpro ts in Kansas City. Rear Admiral Reginald “Stan” Ewing III ’89 o cially assumed director of the Defense Health Network – National Capital Region (DHN-NCR). Arthur “Paul” Kucewicz ’89 is the Rochester Fire Department’s new Executive Deputy Chief of Administration. Jason Gorton ’90 presented to the Aquinas Irish Heritage & Culture Club about the Hibernians history in the U.S. and Rochester. Thad Brown ’94 and Christopher Bostick ’11 were inducted into the Red Wings 2025 Walk of Fame Class which recognizes Rochester sports legends. The Andrew J.“AJ”Sperr ’91 Endowed Memorial Scholarship continues to honor the life and legacy of AJ Sperr, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty as a New York State Trooper. AJ’s dedication to family, community, and public service lives on through this fund, which provides tuition assistance to deserving students who demonstrate strong character, leadership, and an interest in law enforcement.
