Aquinas-Landmark-Winter-2026-2

19 As we reach the midpoint of the 2025–2026 school year, AQ has already seen remarkable energy, achievement, and community spirit. From welcoming new faces to celebrating enduring traditions, here’s a glimpse at the moments that make our school so special: COMING TOGETHER • Faculty and staff began the year reflecting on Education as a Vocation during a workshop day, deepening connections and celebrating the lasting impact of AQ’s mission. • We welcomed more than 100 new students to the AQ family— along with the many returning students whose familiar faces brought comfort, joy, and renewed spirit to our halls. AQ parent Kathryn Carangelo P’25 & ’27 captured first-day memories with her signature photography. View our website Gallery to view all photos! • Our community gathered in faith to celebrate the joy and meaning of the holiday season at Mass and Lessons & Carols. LEARNING & LEADERSHIP • Our Colin F. Kennedy Foundation Scholars experienced the world of entrepreneurship firsthand at the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship, hearing directly from Tom Golisano, founder of Paychex, and taking home his book as inspiration for future success. Pictured are our students with Foundation Chair Marty Kennedy ’74. • The National Honor Society (NHS), led by Mr. Benjamin Bostick ’09, NHS Advisor & Learning Specialist, welcomed its newest members, recognizing scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Peer tutoring, service projects, and leadership opportunities continue to enrich the AQ community. Eligible students must attain a cumulative weighted GPA of 92 by the end of their sophomore year. They must maintain this GPA for the remainder of their membership in the NHS. Students must also exhibit leadership qualities, show evidence of exceptional character as reflected in their disciplinary record, and have performed significant hours of community service. • The Sisters of St. Joseph Women’s Leadership Program welcomed a new class of young women beginning their leadership journey, celebrating their dedication at this year’s Commitment Ceremony. The program is led by Mrs. Julie Melton, who is also AQ’s librarian, and the Leadership Advisory Committee. During the time together, the young women learn leadership skills through a variety of topical and relevant discussions, writing experiences, and other activities. SPIRIT & SCHOOL LIFE • Our seniors showcased their creativity by decorating their parking spaces, adding their personality and school spirit. • Students participated in Spirit Week, highlighted by the always-popular Powderpuff Game, bringing energy, teamwork, and fun to campus. • Monthly family Masses continue to celebrate faith, connection, and community. SERVICE & GIVING BACK • Our Thanksgiving Food Collection helped provide gift baskets and grocery gift cards for families in need. In addition, the Aquinas Football Team—players, coaches, and parents—supported the Primetime585 Thanksgiving Program by raising funds, purchasing groceries at Wegmans, and delivering food directly to families’ homes, led by Mrs. Corinne Burgess and her son, Frankie Burgess ’26. • AQ students and families made a meaningful impact by contributing to the Pirate Toy Fund, supporting children and teens in local hospitals. • The Little Free Food Pantry, created by Lucas Sherron ’22, continues to serve the neighborhood, maintained by NHS students under the guidance of advisor Mr. Benjamin Bostick ’09, Learning Specialist/Academic Intervention Services. Additional support from AQ clubs, programs, and neighbors helps keep the shelves filled. Non-perishable donations are welcome at the Main Office (Door #7). From leadership programs to community service, from academics to school spirit, the first half of this school year has been filled with growth, inspiration, and connection. We’re ready for what’s to come next! First Semester Highlights
