Alumni Notes Thank you to John Cannon ’52 for donating this original print of the Aquinas Memorial Stadium, later renamed in honor of Major Donald Holleder ’52. Members from the Class of 1953 gathered to reminisce about their days at Aquinas, sharing a copy of the Maroon & White school newspaper from their freshman year. This June 2025, at Holy Cross Church, we honored and celebrated Fr. John Reif ’56 on his 60th year of service to the Priesthood. Members from the Class of 1959 gathered for lunch and contributed to their Class Scholarship — a meaningful tribute honoring their late classmates and a way to give back to Aquinas in gratitude for the values and traditions that helped shape their lives. In celebration of Shamrock Week 2025, Tony Iacovangelo ’59 and Bob Schwab ’63 joined the festivities in style, proudly donning their Irish and Aquinas gear to show off their school spirit. Thank you to Len Leccese ’62 for hosting alumni from five different decades (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, & 00s) in Delray Beach, Florida in March 2025, for an evening of great food and fellowship. Richard Pilliter ’63, former Aquinas Baseball Coach (inducted in the Aquinas Hall of Fame in 1995), was posthumously inducted into the Section V Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday, June 29, at Innovation Field. Coach Pilliter won 14 League Titles and two Section V Championships in 1979 and 1984. Mark Magliocco ’79 accepted the honor on his behalf. Congratulations to John Heveron ’65 and Heveron & Company CPAs for being recognized by the Rochester Business Journal as the #1 Small Company to Work For in New York — for the second consecutive year. We were thrilled to welcome back Dan Murphy ’65 during a recent visit to Rochester — his first time on campus since graduating in 1965. Raymond Shea ’66 announces his 20th novel, The Poisoned Book, now available on Amazon.com. Joseph L. Petrelli‘69, President and co-founder of Demotech, Inc. registered Demotech, Inc. with the US Securities and Exchange Commission as the tenth nationally recognized statistical rating organization (Insurance Companies). Demotech joins S&P, Moody’s and Fitch, and a few others as NRSROs. On May 15, the Class of 1970 held a memorial mass in the Martin J. Calihan ‘45 Chapel for deceased classmates. Congratulations to Sal Gerbino ’72 for receiving the 2025 Charlie Wagner & Christine Wagner Welch Founders Award presented by the Rochester Radio Press Club. Sal started the Rochester Polar Plunge 25 years ago and continues to work on this event that raises funds for the Special Olympics NY. Bob Duffy ’72, President/ CEO, Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, and David Riedman ’82, President/CEO, Riedman Companies, were both named to the Rochester Business Journal’s Power 100. Congratulations to Michael Viterise ’75 who ran the Boston Marathon this April 2025, completing the course in 4:52:08. Congratulations to Thomas Crilly ’80 and David Riedman ’82 on being honored with the Rochester Business Journal’s ICON Honors. This prestigious recognition celebrates leaders over the age of 60 in the Greater Rochester area who have achieved remarkable success and demonstrated outstanding leadership both professionally and within the community. This past spring, Michael Arsenault ’81 completed a 4,300-mile bike ride from Maine to Washington to raise awareness and funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Averaging 60–70 miles a day for six days a week, his journey brought him through Rochester in late May during Mental Health Awareness Month. Michael rode in honor of families impacted by mental health challenges. He is also the proud uncle of AQ alums Todd ’00, Kevin ’03, and Renee Reichlmayr ’06. Our heartfelt congratulations and deepest thanks to Michael for his inspiring journey. Congratulations to Paul Gotham ’83 on receiving the 2025 Gary Smith & George Beahon Sports Media Award presented by the Rochester Radio Press Club. Paul is the Owner, Editor, Writer, and Writing Coach of Pickin’Splinters website. Congratulations to Pete Guelli ’83 for receiving the 2025 Elliot Cushing Award presented by the Rochester Radio Press Club, given to a local person who has excelled on the national sports scene/ level. Congratulations to William McLean ’83 for rejoining the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office as a Special Patrol Officer. Deputy McLean retired from the Jail Bureau. Congratulations to James Brennan ’88, Managing Partner, Deloitte LLP, for being named to the 2025 Power List for Accounting & Insurance by the Rochester Business Journal. Jodi (Ruggieri) Johnson ’88 opened her new restaurant and cocktail bar – Be sure to check out Bonnie & Clyde located within a Renaissance revival-style bank building in the Village of Fairport, NY. Congratulations to Molly Boprey ’89 for receiving the Access Reimbursement Manager Trailblazer at the Madrigal National meeting in Las Vegas. Aaron Gibalski ’90, owner of Silver Iguana Mexican restaurant, earns the title of Best Tacos in Rochester by the Democrat & Chronicle’s readers’poll. Congratulations to James Hanson ’90, COO/ Partner at Current Marketing Solutions, for being elected to the American Marketing Association Nashville Board of Directors. Thank you to Deputy Mayor of Rochester Michael Burns ’95 for being our Commencement Speaker at the Class of 2025 Graduation. Congratulations to Liz (Johnson) Clark ’95 for being named as one of Washington Magazine’s most influential people of the year in healthcare for the third year in a row. Congratulations to Francesca Iacovangelo ’95 for being elected Chancellor of the Justinian Society of Philadelphia.
