22 AQUINAS LANDMARK | SUMMER 2024 Alumni Notes Josh Gleason ‘94 led the Aquinas Boys Soccer Team to an undefeated state championship in 2023, the rst since 2006. Josh has been a coach at Aquinas for 12 years. In the 2023 season, he earned the following awards: NYS Class A Coach of the Year, All Greater Rochester Coach of the Year, Section V Class A Coach of the Year, and News 8/Primetime 585 Fall Coach of the Season. Under his guidance, the team produced two All Region players, one All American, and one Division 1 soccer player. Louis DiGregorio ’68 volunteers with Notre Dame Learning Center in Rochester and coordinates the center’s Annual Gol ng for Good Tournament. He also coordinates the Knights of Columbus 4691 second Sunday Dinners at St. Joe’s House of Hospitality. Pete Palmeri ’73 retired in 2023 after 31 years in the corporate data center at ITT/ Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, NY. Allison Sands ’05 recently nished her seventh year teaching abroad at American International Schools. She taught for three years in Ecuador and four years in Romania. This year, she begins a new adventure teaching in Dubai! Katie Smith ‘17 married Dr. Stephen J Powell at Genesee Country Village and Museum in September 2023. Katie and Stephen are both working at Strong Memorial Hospital as Stephen is nishing residency in Neurology. Katie is currently working on the Neurosurgery unit as PCT. Travasia Singletary ’18 graduated in May from the University at Bu alo with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She ran track for ve years at UB and was a team captain for two of those years. Travasia is now doing travel physical therapy across the country! Cherisse Heirs ’13 recently nished graduate school with a focus in Laboratory Medicine at George Washington University’s school of Medicine and Health Sciences. Cherisse is currently an Assistant Director of Shelter services at Anti Cruelty Society, an animal shelter in Chicago. Major Sharon Elliott Sherlock (USAF) ‘04, is the Command Aerospace Physiologist for United States Air Forces in Europe and Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) aircrew and parachutists across ve, diverse Wings. She and her husband, Captain Sean Sherlock (USSF), and their two young children, Scarlett, 5 and Wyatt, 2, recently moved from Osan Air Base, South Korea to Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Marco Sayers ‘14 is a Captain in the US Army working military logistics support to Ukraine and other European nations. He is based in Kaiserslautern, Germany with his wife Christina, son Theodore, 3, and another baby boy due February 1st, 2024. Patrick Sayers ‘17 is a mechanical engineer specializing in 3D printing while working for Cardinal Health in Greenwood, South Carolina, since June 2022. A graduate from RIT, he credits their paid internship program with preparing him for success in the work world. Congratulations to Bob Russel ’81, President and CEO of the Rochester Hearing and Speech Center, on being named the Community Choice Award Winner for Best Hearing Aid/Hearing Specialist Center. Gerard “Jerry” Schmitt ’34 celebrated his 107th Birthday! Jamir Jones ’16 joined the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL. Bob Du y ’72, David Riedman ’82, and Yversha Roman ’02 all made the Rochester Business Journal’s Power 100. Yversha Roman ’02 was named President of the Monroe County Legislature. Aquinas Hall of Fame member Ronald Mack ’53 celebrated his 88th birthday by watching the Aquinas Boys Basketball Senior Night Game. Ron still holds the Aquinas single game scoring record with 44 points. Congratulations to Pete Noto ’81 on being named to the Forbes Best in State Wealth Management Teams list for 2024. Michael Culotta ’98 was appointed to serve as the Regional Administrator for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration in New York City. Nia Williams-Matthews ’20 placed third in the long jump at the 2024 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships for Youngstown State. Rich Dimarco ’90 was inducted into Seneca Battalion ROTC Hall of Fame. Johnathan Campbell ‘16 is currently studying sports management at Texas Southern University (TSU) in Houston, Texas, while working for the Houston Texans, NFL team. He is also pursuing his music career (Junebuggg), which has garnered 14 million streams. His latest album, “Farah’s Son,” honors his father, Coach John Farah, former Aquinas football coach, who passed away unexpectedly in November 2023. Johnathan has gained recognition from multiple labels worldwide and intends to remain in Houston to further his career in both the music and sports industries. Congratulations to Peter Guelli ’83 on being named Chief Operating O cer for the Bu alo Bills and Bu alo Sabres. Joe Robach ’76 was named President and CEO for the Greece Regional Chamber of Commerce. James Collins ’57 fondly recalls his daily commute to Aquinas. He would ride the city bus from the stop at Plymouth Ave. and Barton St. to Main St. (which had a standard transmission) for just a 10-cent token. He would then transfer for two cents and hop on the subway to Emerson St. After another transfer slip, he’d catch the bus that would take him the rest of the way to AQ. Congratulations to Jake Wiepert ’23 who nished the Tough Ruck Marathon, carrying a 35 lb. bag and earning the O cial Boston Marathon medal. Tough Ruck Share your good news!
