JACQUELINE MOYER ‘13 Assistant District Attorney WHERE DID YOU ATTEND UNDERGRAD AND WHAT DEGREE DID YOU EARN? I graduated from St. John Fisher College with a bachelor of arts degree in 2017. WHICH LAW SCHOOL DID YOU ATTEND? University of Dayton School of Law, Class of 2020. WHO/WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PURSUE A CAREER IN LAW? My father, Vincent Moyer, is an attorney so growing up I saw first-hand his unparalleled work ethic and dedication to his clients. My father is my biggest inspiration. HOW DID AQUINAS HELP PREPARE YOU FOR YOUR CAREER? As a prosecutor, it’s all about prioritizing. There are many tasks that need to be done on any given day. As a student-athlete at Aquinas, I had to learn how to prioritize academics, while still being a part of a team that depended on me. WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST REWARDING ABOUT YOUR CAREER? The most rewarding thing about being a lawyer specifically as a prosecutor, is that at the end of the day you know in your heart that you have done your best to serve the community. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 15 YEARS? I see myself continuing to develop my skills as a prosecutor while enjoying life with my family, friends and my dog, Henry. 19 It’s not just the Classes of 2012 and 2013 representing AQ in the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office! Megan Hausner, Class of 2004, is an attorney there in the Major Felony Bureau. Kyle P. Rossi, Class of 1999, was with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, but has since become a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. MATTHEW M. SCHIANO ‘12 Assistant District Attorney WHERE DID YOU ATTEND UNDERGRAD AND WHAT DEGREE DID YOU EARN? I graduated from Nazareth College with a double major in History and Legal Studies. WHICH LAW SCHOOL DID YOU ATTEND? University of Dayton School of Law, Class of 2019. WHO/WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PURSUE A CAREER IN LAW? What inspired me the most to pursue a career in law was growing up in a family of lawyers and being around the law at such an early age. My father has always been my biggest role model and growing up watching him work hard and be successful, I wanted to emulate him. I also realized that I enjoyed helping people and that I could help people navigate the law, sometimes in very tricky situations in their life. HOW DID AQUINAS HELP PREPARE YOU FOR YOUR CAREER? Aquinas definitely helped me in my undergraduate and law school studies. I quickly realized that Aquinas prepared me to take on the task of higher education. Aquinas taught me how to organize my work, how to prepare and study, time management, and discipline – how to stay dedicated to the task at hand. WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST REWARDING ABOUT YOUR CAREER? As a prosecutor, the most rewarding part is helping victims of crimes through extreme events in their lives. I get to interact and meet with hundreds of people in our community and try to fight for the People of the State of New York. I enjoy being able to represent the community that I have lived in my whole life, and being able to give back to the community by representing the People in the courtroom. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 15 YEARS? At the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and litigating in the courtroom for the People of the State of New York.
