20 AQUINAS LANDMARK | SPRING 2023 Alumni News The 2022 Aquinas Hall of Fame induction class is another shining example of the alumni and special friends who represent the Christian values taught at Aquinas and embody the Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge at the core of our mission. We proudly celebrated these individuals, families, and teams at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony held on September 11, 2022 and wish to congratulate them once again on their achievements. 2022 HALL OF FAME JOHN “JACK” DEPETERS ’69 Distinguished Career While a student at Aquinas, Jack’s part-time job at Wegmans was the start of an illustrious 52-year career at one of the country’s most well-known and successful supermarket chains. Jack rose to the role of senior vice president, and managed 102 stores and 50,000 people, while implementing impactful initiatives for the company. Jack’s career at Wegmans immersed him in every component of the company including construction, maintenance, security, human resources, and of course, food. Danny Wegman has stated: “Jack has played an immeasurable role in the success of our company by bringing our values to life and always putting people first. His career has set an example of continuous learning and leadership for the many generations that follow. “Counting the number of people and families Jack has impacted throughout his professional career and through his community efforts would be an impossible feat. Our family is grateful for all that he has contributed to our company and our community” Jack began to give to The United Way as a part-time employee in the 1960s. Over time, he served on a number of United Way committees and also served on the Board of Directors from 1999 through 2002. Jack and his wife, Donna, have been Tocqueville members since 2008. They jointly served as Tocqueville Chairs in 2017 and 2018. Jack has been on the St. John Fisher University Board of Trustees since 2007. He has served as chairman of the board and was honored with a Doctor of Letters in 2020. Most recently, Jack, Donna, and their daughters have established The DePeters Family Center for Innovation and Teaching Excellence at St. John Fisher University. VITO C. QUATELA, M.D. ’71 Distinguished Career Vito attended Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, where he completed his Medical Degree in 1979. He completed residencies in both general surgery and otolaryngology, before completing a Facial Plastic Surgery fellowship at Tulane University and a second at Oregon Health Science University. After his fellowships, Vito moved back to Rochester. He purchased the Lindsay family home on East Avenue in 1992, which is home to the Quatela Center for Plastic Surgery, Quatela Center for Hair Restoration, Lindsay House Surgery Center, and Q the Medical Spa at Lindsay House. In 2022, a second location was built, opening Q the Medical Spa at Victor, and Longevità Medical, the Quatela Vitality Center, in Victor, NY. Vito has served as the past president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) and the president of the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies. He is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. Vito serves annually as a board examiner for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery certification examinations. He also helps train the next generation of surgeons through an annual fellowship, as well as multiple national and international lectures, and as a clinical associate professor at the University of Rochester in the otolaryngology department. In 2003, Vito began the HUGS Foundation, which organizes and sends multi-specialty teams of world-class doctors and nurses, including Vito, to underdeveloped nations to provide medical care to children and adolescents suffering from deformity or conditions that are remedied or alleviated through plastic surgery. To date, the medical mission teams have performed over 1800 surgical procedures. 2022 INDUCTEES
